Softball Recap: Fairfield Wins Going Away Against York Suburban

Fairfield was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against York Suburban on Tuesday. The Knights blew past the Trojans 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Maddy Payne made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Kreitz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Aubree Eichenlaub was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Fairfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for York Suburban, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield will face off against York Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for York Suburban, they will take on Eastern York at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
