The Westlake Thunder will head out on the road to square off against the Lehi Pioneers at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Westlake is ranked ninth, while the Pioneers are ranked 14th).
Last Friday, Westlake didn't have too much trouble with the Falcons on the road as they won 57-39. With that victory, Westlake brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Chloe Jensen and Austyn Feller were among the main playmakers for Westlake as the former scored 16 points along with five assists and the latter scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Isley Sauvao was another key contributor, scoring three points along with nine rebounds.
Lehi proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 23) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over American Fork. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lehi.
It was another big night for Addy Scrivner, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Hill, who scored nine points.
Westlake pushed their record up to 13-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Lehi, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Westlake have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Westlake came up short against the Pioneers when the teams last played back in January, falling 55-49. Can Westlake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
