Softball Recap: Santana Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Santana, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the Rancho Bernardo Broncos with a sharp 8-2 win on Wednesday. The Sultans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Broncos, too.

Ashlyn Darrow made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Schneider, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Lindahl, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Santana always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Santana's record is now 5-3. As for Rancho Bernardo, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.

Coming up, Santana will square off against Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Santana is facing Academy of Our Lady of Peace at the right time seeing as Academy of Our Lady of Peace is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Rancho Bernardo, they will face off against La Costa Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (La Costa Canyon 2, Rancho Bernardo 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
