Two dominant players in Kendra Ritzmann and Seilani Relford are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pomona Panthers are on the road again on Monday and play against the Overland Trailblazers at 5:30 p.m. on December 18th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Pomona struggled with assists last Saturday (Standley Lake had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pomona was outmatched by Standley Lake on the road and fell 53-18. Pomona was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.
The losing side was boosted by Ritzmann, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins dating back to last season, Overland's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a rough 70-50 loss at the hands of Rock Canyon. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Overland has scored all season.
Pomona's record now sits at 4-3. Overland's record is now 5-1.
Pomona didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Overland in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 45-41 win. Will Pomona repeat their success, or does Overland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
