The Canyon del Oro Dorados put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 21-9 win over Walden Grove. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Canyon del Oro also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2022.
Kayden Luke continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Walden Grove to a paltry 204 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Canyon del Oro's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 8.5 times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Evan Greer and Grant Young who racked up five sacks between them.
Canyon del Oro's win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Mica Mountain and 8-2 Eastmark (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.4% over those games). As for Walden Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Canyon del Oro has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Poston Butte at 7:00 p.m. on November 9th. One thing working in Poston Butte's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests. Walden Grove will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Northwest Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Northwest Christian is ranked 36th, while Walden Grove is ranked 53rd).
