Vintage is 6-1 against Petaluma since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Vintage Crushers will be playing at home against the Petaluma Trojans at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Vintage is ranked 295th, while Petaluma is ranked 300th).
Vintage fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Napa 54-19 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-0.
Treven Cullinane was a one-man wrecking crew for Vintage as he rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Cullinane's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Another player making a difference was Jeffery Page, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Vintage's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Carson Degarmo and Bailey Huss who racked up seven sacks between them.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Petaluma's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They suffered a tough 28-3 defeat at the hands of Casa Grande. The low total for Petaluma limited their streak of high-flying scores to four in a row.
Vintage is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Petaluma, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Vintage has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 290.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Petaluma struggles in that department as they've been even better at 310 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Vintage couldn't quite finish off Petaluma when the teams last played back in September of 2022 and fell 28-26. Will Vintage have more luck at home instead of on the road?
