Wake Forest is 8-2 against Millbrook since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wake Forest Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Millbrook Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-27, which was the final score in Wake Forest's tilt against Rolesville on Friday. It was the first time this season that Wake Forest let down their fans at home.
Kavon Simmons put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Franklin Baret Jr. , who picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Millbrook stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-14 win over Knightdale on the road. Given Millbrook's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Knightdale is ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Millbrook relied on the efforts of Mason Fortune, who threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns, and John Alarcon, who rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Henry Hutchins did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Rolesville's victory bumped their season record to 8-1 while Wake Forest's loss dropped theirs to 6-3.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Wake Forest and Millbrook haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Wake Forest commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.7 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Millbrook struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.2 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Wake Forest suffered a grim 34-14 defeat to Millbrook in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Wake Forest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
