Basketball Recap: Utopia Extends Winning Streak to Three

Utopia waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 67-49 victory over the Brackett Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-54 on Tuesday.

Utopia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Long out in front who posted 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Long is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Jett Smothers was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six assists and six steals.

Utopia was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They are 5-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Defeat or not, Brackett got some senior leadership from Jordan Balderas and Troy Sandoval. Balderas went 7-for-16 on his way to 19 points along with five boards and four steals, while Sandoval shot 44% from the field en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Abel Aguirre, who earned four points.

Utopia's record is now 6-4. As for Brackett, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Utopia has already played their next game, a 38-33 loss against D'Hanis on the 6th. As for Brackett, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-43 victory against Comstock on the 9th.
