The Green Valley Gators will face off against the Faith Lutheran Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Lutheran took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Green Valley, who comes in off a win.
Green Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Carson with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Maddix Kaye looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caden Kirby was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Green Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Dylon Murphy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Green Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.8.
Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran faced Basic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Faith Lutheran fell just short of Basic by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Crusaders have suffered since March 11, 2024.
Green Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Faith Lutheran and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Green Valley skirted past Faith Lutheran 7-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Does Green Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Faith Lutheran turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
