The Blanco Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Edna Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Blanco comes in on seven and Edna on five.
Blanco extended their postseason success on Friday against Goliad. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 34-0 win over the Tigers. Considering Blanco has won nine matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Cameron Anderson, who rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Trevin Young also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Edna has more to be thankful for after their match against Industrial on Friday. Edna had just enough and edged Industrial out 27-24. Given Edna's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Industrial is ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blanco pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.5 points per game. As for Edna, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-1 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Blanco, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-22 loss to Edna in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Blanco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
