The De La Salle Cavalier had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 52-36 win over Phoenix on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as De La Salle also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Phoenix saw an underclassman step up: Khiah Hamilton scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hamilton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiya Addison, who scored eight points.
De La Salle's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14. As for Phoenix, they now have a losing record at 13-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. De La Salle won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Liberty Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Liberty Magnet presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than De La Salle in Louisiana (Liberty Magnet is ranked 19th, while De La Salle is ranked 200th). As for Phoenix, they will head out on the road to square off against Chalmette at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chalmette will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
