Archbishop Mitty is 1-9 against Valley Christian since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Monarchs will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Archbishop Mitty will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Archbishop Mitty will bounce into Friday's contest after beating St. Ignatius College Preparatory, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Monarchs took down the Wildcats 37-23 on Friday. The Monarchs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Lazaro Faraj-Washington had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 227 yards and three scores. Faraj-Washington is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 123 every time he's taken the field this season. Kai Sniffen made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Archbishop Mitty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Archbishop Mitty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Grant Siripoke, Caden Kelly, and Sniffen picked up one apiece. Sniffen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Valley Christian was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They were beaten by Junipero Serra 41-6. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Padres recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Even if they lost, Valley Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Saunders, Federico Cobarubio, and Chase Togiai, who each picked up one sack apiece. Valley Christian got some further help from Saunders: he picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.
Archbishop Mitty's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Archbishop Mitty has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 157.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Archbishop Mitty was dealt a bruising 47-7 loss at the hands of Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Warriors' Ekiah Mclemore, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Now that the Monarchs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
