They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bloomfield. While losing is never fun, Tri County Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Bloomfield is ranked 65th).
Tri County Northeast's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Jorgensen, who scored 12 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Dickens, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloomfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layne Warrior, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mason Mackeprang, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Tri County Northeast's loss was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Bloomfield, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Tri County Northeast will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Siouxland Christian at 7:30 p.m. As for Bloomfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Stuart at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Stuart focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
