This season hasn't been kind to The Filer Wildcats, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They lost to Buhl on the road by a decisive 41-24 margin on Friday. Filer lost against Buhl in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 20-7 score last time.
Talyn Weaver and Tristan Rea, Filer certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Weaver picked up 124 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Rea threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buhl to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabe Finley, who threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Kyler Kelly also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Filer's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.4 points per game. As for Buhl, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Filer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Buhl will head out on the road to face off against McCall-Donnelly at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (McCall-Donnelly is ranked 34th, while Buhl is ranked 45th).
