The Crivitz Wolverines will take on the Little Chute Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Crivitz will be strutting in after a win while Little Chute will be coming in after a loss.
Crivitz took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Pembine/Goodman 12-1. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Izzy Wesolowski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Lillian Biundo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Crivitz always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Little Chute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Marinette.
Bella Pfrang was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Pfrang was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Danica Pfrang made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Lendved, who went 3-for-4 with one double.
Little Chute's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Crivitz, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Crivitz's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Wolverines have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Little Chute, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Crivitz continue to outrun the ball?
Crivitz took their win against Little Chute in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
