The Glasgow Scotties will head out on the road to face off against the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Glasgow will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Franklin-Simpson is ranked sixth).
Last Friday, Glasgow was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Allen County-Scottsville. Glasgow has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Franklin-Simpson came tearing into Saturday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over Greenwood. Franklin-Simpson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Reesha Cawthorn was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Savage, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Glasgow dropped their record down to 4-20 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Franklin-Simpson, their victory bumped their record up to 25-1.
Glasgow took a serious blow against Franklin-Simpson in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 66-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cawthorn, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Now that Glasgow knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
