The Decatur Red Raiders and the Jacksonville Golden Eagles will round out the year against one another at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday at. Jacksonville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Decatur, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Decatur got the win against Clements by a conclusive 64-44. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Clements is ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Jacksonville's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Anniston by a score of 46-44.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aaron Nixon, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jaquan Ervin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Decatur's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Jacksonville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
