McQueen is 9-1 against Galena since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The McQueen Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Galena Grizzlies at 5:15 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (McQueen is ranked 66th, while Galena is ranked 64th).
Last Tuesday, McQueen beat Reed 38-29.
It was another big night for Caitlin Hilson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Leah Nisenfeld was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Galena's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 58-44 to Spanish Springs. Galena has not had much luck with Spanish Springs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ramona Peterson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Turner, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
McQueen's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13. As for Galena, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-17.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McQueen have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Galena struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
McQueen came up short against Galena in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 44-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Peterson, who scored 24 points along with eight steals.
