Basketball Recap: St. John Paul II Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for St. John Paul II, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Jefferson County Tigers by a score of 42-30 on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

St. John Paul II's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alyssa Jacobs led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Jacobs a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Naumann, who posted 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Jefferson County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haley Schmigel, who scored 13 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Faith Steen was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.
