The St. Augustine Catholic Wolves will face off against the Baboquivari Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Augustine Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, St. Augustine Catholic turned things around against Santa Rita on Monday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 20-10 victory.
Edgardo Cornejo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those RBI were his first of the season.
In other batting news, St. Augustine Catholic got a massive performance out of Sergio Cordova, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Cordova has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabastian Montoya, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
St. Augustine Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Rita only posted an OBP of .423.
Meanwhile, Baboquivari came up short against St. David on Wednesday, falling 17-2. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.
St. Augustine Catholic's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Baboquivari, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
St. Augustine Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against Baboquivari in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
