The Pequot Lakes Patriots had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Park Rapids by a score of 63-51. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Pequot Lakes has managed all season.
Park Rapids lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Noah Larson, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. Ryan Carroll was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Pequot Lakes' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Park Rapids, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pequot Lakes' road trip will continue as they head out to face Pine River-Backus at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Pine River-Backus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Pequot Lakes is ranked 71st). As for Park Rapids, they will head out on the road to face off against Nevis at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
