The North Johnston Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Northeastern Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Johnston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Northeastern is ranked 71st).
Last Friday, North Johnston was beaten by Princeton 41-14. North Johnston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Kaleb Pone put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 149 yards and a touchdown. Pone was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards.
Meanwhile, Northeastern put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pasquotank County 43-7 on the road. Considering Northeastern has won five matchups by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Tyselle Spencer, who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Spencer is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last nine games he's played. Paul Sylvester was in the mix as well, providing Northeastern with two touchdowns.
North Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Northeastern, their victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0.
