DENVER, Colo. -
Monarch (Louisville, Colo.) jumped out to an early lead against Montbello (Denver, Colo.) and never looked back on the way to a 56-7 victory on Saturday.
The Coyotes put up eight points in the opening quarter. Monarch scored on a
Logan Soole touchdown run and a safety.
After taking the lead on a Soole touchdown run in the first quarter, the Louisville school was up 29-7 at the half.
The Coyotes grew their lead to 43 points entering the fourth quarter. Monarch scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Montbello's lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the second quarter.
The Louisville school went into the matchup giving up only 17.2 points per game. Montbello's seven points were well below their season average of 35.5 per game. Montbello came in allowing just 14.7 points per game this season.
The Coyotes also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 42-20.
In a 4A Mountain game next week Montbello (5-2) takes on Broomfield, and Monarch (5-1) will go up against George Washington also in a 4A Mountain game.
