Two dominant guards in Gabriel Short and Jibran Castillo are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The River Valley Dust Devils will be playing at home against the Salome Frogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. River Valley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
River Valley suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Kingman by a score of 53-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for River Valley in their matchups with Kingman: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Salome unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. The matchup between Salome and Antelope wasn't particularly close, with Salome falling 69-51.
Despite the defeat, Salome got a solid performance out of Castillo, who scored 24 points. Castillo hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Jovany Calderon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
River Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Salome, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.
River Valley was taken down by Salome 68-32 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point River Valley was down 40-16.
