Baseball Recap: Augusta Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Augusta took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Ludlow, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Augusta had just enough and edged out Ludlow 6-5 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Augusta as they're now sitting on four straight.

Maddox Hesler and Keeton Bach made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hesler pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bach pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Hesler scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Bach went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Hesler is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noland Young, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Augusta's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ludlow, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Augusta will be playing in front of their home fans against Grant County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ludlow, they will face off against Dayton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Greendevils at the right time seeing as the Greendevils are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
