The Crescenta Valley Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Etiwanda Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Crescenta Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Crescenta Valley after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 11-6 to Oaks Christian.
Mulcahey Chloe put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Chloe was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Wong made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Fontanilla Reese also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Etiwanda waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Wildcats. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Kayleen Aleman tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amberly Transito, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Diaz, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Etiwanda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in nine consecutive games.
Etiwanda's record now sits at 11-1. As for Crescenta Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Crescenta Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Etiwanda struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Crescenta Valley suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Etiwanda in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
