Central Mountain is 0-9 against Williamsport since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Central Mountain Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Williamsport Millionaires at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Central Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Central Mountain pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Chestnut Ridge by a score of 67-65. While losing is never fun, Central Mountain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Chestnut Ridge is ranked 82nd).
Despite their defeat, Central Mountain saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Xaiver Persun, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Hunter Hoy, who scored 18 points.
Williamsport has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Altoona by a score of 55-43 on Saturday.
Central Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Williamsport, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.
Central Mountain suffered a grim 78-52 defeat to Williamsport when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Central Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
