Basketball Recap: Banneker Piles Up the Points Against Bard

Banneker put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Bard Falcons 59-18. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Banneker was led to victory by Rainelle McNeil and Kylee Deskins. McNeil posted six points in addition to seven boards and four steals, while Deskins put up eight points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Deskins has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Ava Baughns, who had three points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Banneker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Banneker pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.2 points. As for Bard, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Banneker will head out to challenge Cardozo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Banneker's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Cardozo's offense will have their work cut out for them. Bard and Woodson will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
