After both having extra time off, the University School of Milwaukee Wildcats and the Oostburg Flying Dutchmen will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. University School of Milwaukee has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Oostburg will come in with three straight victories.
On Friday, University School of Milwaukee came up short against Living Word Lutheran and fell 2-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Oostburg made easy work of Northeastern Wisconsin Lutheran/Providence Academy on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-13, 25-18.
Oostburg found their leader in sophomore Kwinn McGranahan, who had 11 digs and two aces.
Oostburg was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in five consecutive matches.
Oostburg's victory bumped their record up to 22-13. As for University School of Milwaukee, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: University School of Milwaukee has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Oostburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
