American International Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Maumee Valley Country Day 70-18. While losing is never fun, American International Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 562nd in Michigan, while the Hawks are ranked 143rd in Ohio).
Leading Maumee Valley Country Day to victory were Amani-Jordan Chandran-Dickerson and Christian Majors. Chandran-Dickerson scored 20 points along with six assists and four steals, while Majors shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Majors has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Soriano, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
American International Academy dropped their record down to 5-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.5 points per game. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American International Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Rangers at 7:15 p.m. on February 9th.
