Edsel Ford is 1-9 against Woodhaven since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Thunderbirds will head out to face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Edsel Ford is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
While Edsel Ford didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Wayne Memorial with a sharp 16-7 win on Saturday. The Thunderbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jacob Kowalsky was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Edsel Ford let Jonathan Harrison and Ian Maness run wild. Harrison went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run, while Maness went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Harrison a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of John Polster, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Edsel Ford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne Memorial only posted an OBP of .433.
Meanwhile, Woodhaven never let their opponents score on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Powers Catholic.
Woodhaven saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Louria, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Edsel Ford pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Woodhaven, their record now sits at 14-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edsel Ford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Woodhaven struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edsel Ford couldn't quite finish off Woodhaven in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
