Basketball Recap: Jacob Dunning Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Buena Vista

Lamar won the last time they faced Buena Vista and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lamar Thunder walked away with a 52-39 victory over the Buena Vista Demons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunder.

Lamar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Dunning, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 18 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dunning has scored at least a third of Lamar's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Estrada, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Lamar's record is now 6-2. As for Buena Vista, they moved to 4-1 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Lamar will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on La Junta at 7:30 p.m. on January 16, 2025. After both having extra time off, Buena Vista and Florence will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
