The home team had come away the winner the last five times Russell County and Clinton County had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Lakers lost 11-4 to the Bulldogs on Thursday.
Russell County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brylie Hardwick, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Addy Abrell was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Russell County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-11. As for Monroe County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monroe County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Russell County struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
