Windsor is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Rancho Cotate is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Windsor Jaguars will take on the Rancho Cotate Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Windsor walked away with it. They breezed by Vintage at home to the tune of 49-13. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Judson Anderson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 119 yards and three touchdowns while completing 94.1% of his passes. Anderson hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Gunnar Erickson, who gained 54 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Rancho Cotate's and Granada's game on Friday was close at halftime, but Rancho Cotate turned on the heat in the second half with 27 points. Rancho Cotate blew past Granada 40-18.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Jacob Pruitt and Quinn Boyd. Pruitt had a great game and rushed for 99 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Meanwhile, Boyd did his best for the losing side, throwing for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Windsor to 9-1-1 and Rancho Cotate to 7-4.
Everything came up roses for Windsor against Rancho Cotate when the teams last played back in October as the team secured a 35-7 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rancho Cotate's Geovanny Ortiz, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Windsor still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
