3A South Puget Sound recap September 17, 2013
Auburn Mountainview was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in 3A South Puget Sound. The Lions beat Mt. Tahoma 52-0 earlier in the week.
Decatur scaled the state rankings by moving to 182 from 214 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Golden Gators were able to make move up by defeating Renton 32-28.
Auburn Mountainview's dynamic duo of Gresch Jensen and Joey Cassano proved tough for the T-Birds to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jensen threw for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns and Cassano had 150 yards receiving. Jesse Weathers helped Auburn Mountainview's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 23 yards.
Jared Gervis' team's dynamic duo of Jensen and Cassano proved to be unstoppable against Mt. Tahoma, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Jensen put up the best numbers in passing as the Lions topped Kevin Hanis' team.
Cassano was the best receiver in the league this week as Auburn Mountainview topped the T-Birds.
Josh Junious was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Lions bested Mt. Tahoma. The 5-foot-7 sophomore.
He went 16-19 with 0 interceptions.
Kemonee Jenkins was the most successful running back in 3A South Puget Sound this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 80 yards as Lakes beat the T-Birds. Teammate Caleb Lyons added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Lions' Jensen and Cassano have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Jensen has thrown for 354 yards this season, while Cassano has 13 catches for 208 yards. The Lancers' Lyons leads the league in rushing yards with 112.
Auburn Mountainview took down Mt. Tahoma 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jensen ran for 78 yards during the win.
