The Whiting Oilers suffered their biggest defeat since December 29, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 52-21 defeat at the hands of Lowell. Whiting has not had much luck with Lowell recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Whiting lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Torie Davis, who scored six points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Quinones, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Lowell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kirstin Summers led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six steals. Maddie Mielczarek was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Whiting's loss dropped their record down to 8-13-1. As for Lowell, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
Whiting and Illiana Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Illiana Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games. As for Lowell, they will face off against Crown Point at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Crown Point focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday.
