Cole Valley Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They blew past the Marsing Huskies, posting a 35-6 victory. The Chargers pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies cut but never quite recovered from.
Cole Valley Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aiden Shanks, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Shanks a new career-high. Another passer making a difference was Braydon Van Boven, who threw for 221 yards and a pair of TDs.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cole Valley Christian's defense and their three sacks. Jens Kronstad was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Cole Valley Christian and Melba will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Marsing, they will head out to square off against Wendell at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
