Village is 9-1 against the Crusaders since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Village Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Village put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 56-31 margin over Incarnate Word. Given Village's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 715th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Village got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaniya Williams out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Williams hasn't dropped below four steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Rossini, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 57-44 victory over Incarnate Word Academy.
Village is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. As for Concordia Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 24-6.
Village was able to grind out a solid victory over the Crusaders in their previous meeting back in January, winning 42-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Village since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
