Norfolk Collegiate is 9-1 against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Norfolk Collegiate's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
Even though Steward scored an imposing 59 points on Monday, Norfolk Collegiate still came out on top. Norfolk Collegiate secured a 65-59 W over Steward. Given Norfolk Collegiate's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Steward is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norfolk Collegiate to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khalil Caple, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Justin Burrough was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four blocks.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Nansemond-Suffolk Academy had to settle for a 50-47 loss against Norfolk Academy on Friday. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Norfolk Collegiate's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points per game. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Everything went Norfolk Collegiate's way against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Norfolk Collegiate made off with a 80-59 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norfolk Collegiate since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
