Citrus Belt recap Oct. 9, 2012
Eisenhower moved up to 127 from 153 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Citrus Belt. A 21-0 win over Cajon helped the Eagles improve their standing.
Redlands extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Miller, 54-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Levi Plante put up the best numbers through the air as Redlands East Valley defeated Yucaipa. He finished with 15 completions for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Plante's favorite target this week was Taylor Thompson, who caught three passes for 57 yards.
Craig Lee was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 254 yards on 14 carries as Redlands lost to the Wildcats. Darryl Miller also contributed to the rushing game with 59 yards on the ground.
Scott was the best wideout in Citrus Belt this week as Yucaipa lost to Redlands East Valley. Scott racked up six receptions for 80 yards. Erik Abrams helped Yucaipa's passing attack out by catching five balls for 35 yards.
Justin Price's team's Billy Gustason and Scott have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gustason has thrown for 1168 yards this season, while Scott, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 40 catches for 623 yards. Lee from Jim Walker's team leads the league in rushing with 995 yards.
The Terriers' Lee needs only five yards against the Cowboys next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Eisenhower takes on the Thunderbirds. Vinny Fazio's team is in second place, while Yucaipa is in third place.
Redlands took down the Rebels 54-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lee in the win.
