The Williston-Elko Blue Devils's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They took down Barnwell 63-49. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Williston-Elko also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Barnwell saw an underclassman step up: Vashahd Scofield scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scofield has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Henri Creech, who scored six points.
Williston-Elko pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Barnwell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williston-Elko will take on North at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. North knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Williston-Elko likes a good challenge. As for Barnwell, they will be playing at home against Hampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton County is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
