Princeton is 0-5 against Chester since April of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles will challenge the Volcanoes at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Princeton's victory against CORE Butte wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles skirted past the Lynx 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 25, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Jada Dillard, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Chester made sure to put some runs up on the board against Plumas Charter on Wednesday. The Volcanoes were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Warriors. The Volcanoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Jenna Schlueter made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two RBI, and one double. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sarah Branch was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nancy Christianson, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI and one run.
Chester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plumas Charter only posted an OBP of .360.
Princeton has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Chester, their record is now 15-9.
Both Princeton and Chester just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Chester struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Princeton might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Chester in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
