Basketball Recap: Winfield Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carbon Hill, Winfield was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hubbertville Lions by a score of 67-59. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Hubbertville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blaize Wakefield, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 15 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Wakefield is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Tracee Cowan was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Winfield's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Hubbertville, they moved to 11-1 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Winfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-48 victory against Haleyville on the 19th. As for Hubbertville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-38 win against Brilliant on the 19th.
