It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gainesville had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past South Paulding with points to spare, taking the game 46-27. Given Gainesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while South Paulding is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gavin Hall had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 209 yards and four touchdowns. Baxter Wright was another key contributor, throwing for 238 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes.
Meanwhile, Blessed Trinity didn't have too much trouble with Creekview at home on Friday as they won 24-10.
Blessed Trinity got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ahmontae Pitts out in front who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns. Zyon Mckenzie also helped out with an impressive 115 receiving yards.
Gainesville has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.1 points per game. As for Blessed Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
