Herriman is a perfect 10-0 against Westlake since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Herriman Mustangs will host the Westlake Thunder at 3:30 p.m. Herriman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Herriman took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Syracuse. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won seven in a row.

Sierra Prescott made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Herriman let Kinlee McDermaid and Aspyn Hawes run wild. McDermaid went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, one stolen base, and one run, while Hawes got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Hawes has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddy Maxfield, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Herriman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Westlake won against Mountain Crest on Saturday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Westlake put the hurt on Orem with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Audrey Sherman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Those triples marked the first that she hit this season. Emmri Chuchran was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Herriman pushed their record up to 3-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Herriman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've averaged .413. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Herriman's way against Westlake in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Herriman made off with a 13-5 win. Does Herriman have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westlake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
