The Lincoln Railsplitters will take on the Riverview Pirates at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lincoln hasn't scored more than a single run for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
Lincoln lost 11-1 to Franklin on Friday.
Lincoln saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Sullivan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverview). They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over Richard on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Noah Worthy looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brennen Fritz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Hill, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs and one RBI.
Riverview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richard only posted an OBP of .235.
Riverview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-18. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 9-20.
Everything went Lincoln's way against Riverview in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lincoln made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Railsplitters repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
