IV Section III recap Oct. 3, 2012
Mingus extended the longest winning streak in IV Section III this week by beating Coconino, 28-17. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Parker was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. The Broncs beat Tonopah Valley 42-15 earlier in the week.
Gerrit Groenewold put up the best numbers through the air as Estrella Foothills beat Buckeye. He finished with nine completions for 229 yards and three touchdowns. Groenewold's favorite target this week was Steven Ludlow, who caught six passes for 163 yards.
Justin Steuber provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Fountain Hills lost to Coronado. He completed 16 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 86 yards. Steuber's favorite target this week was Andrew Capirchio, who caught seven passes for 184 yards.
Jabril Taylor was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 180 yards on 23 carries as the Hawks fell to the Dons. Teammate Brandon Grabowski added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.
The Wolves' Groenewold and Ludlow have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading IV Section III in both passing and receiving yards. Groenewold has thrown for 896 yards this season, while Ludlow, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 28 catches for 554 yards. Taylor from Buckeye leads the league in rushing with 892 yards.
River Valley took down Antelope 65-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Derek Advocate threw for 122 yards and one touchdown and ran for one yards in the win.
