The Hollis Tigers will head out to challenge the Carnegie Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carnegie took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hollis, who comes in off a win.
Hollis will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Cordell on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Isaac Luna made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last seven contests.

In other batting news, Hollis got a massive performance out of Kreid McQueen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave McQueen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Parker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Hollis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Carnegie scored first but ultimately less than Mountain View-Gotebo in their matchup on Monday. They lost 10-2 to the Tigers.
Carnegie saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ken Whittington, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Hollis' record is now 4-12-1. As for Carnegie, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hollis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Carnegie struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hollis came out on top in a nail-biter against Carnegie in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
