West Memphis is 0-10 against Nettleton since April of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, West Memphis turned things around against Newport on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Greyhounds.
Hailey Choate spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Mackenzie Halford and Margo Killingsworth did most of the damage at the plate: Halford went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Killingsworth went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Halford has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Adrian Haralson, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nettleton). They came out on top against Buffalo Island Central by a score of 13-8 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Raiders with their most commanding win of the season.
Nettleton also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kennedy Massey gave up three earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits. Massey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Nettleton let Karter Massey and Arleth Huantes run wild. Massey went 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Huantes went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Aubrie Pool was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Nettleton's victory bumped their record up to 4-17. As for West Memphis, their win bumped their record up to 6-17.
West Memphis might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Nettleton in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
