It was a good run, but The Oakland Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 25-24 to Riverdale. Oakland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Riverdale apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Oakland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daune Morris. Despite the final result, he rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Morris' longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Even if they lost, Oakland's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Riverdale's QB won't forget Dre Oldham anytime soon given Oldham sacked him four times.
Riverdale's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Graham, who threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Brock Montgomery, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Oakland's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Riverdale, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakland will take on Gallatin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gallatin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Oakland is ranked ninth). As for Riverdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
